Organization of Sub-Regatta 2005, program, statistsSub-Regatta hosted 55 modelers from 7 countries with altogether around 130 submarine models this year. Traditionaly most of the modelers were from Germany (22) from German IGU and Sonar e.v. and of course from home country, Austria (25 members of IGU-Austria). 1 submariner came from each of France, Holland (Frank traveled 1300 km!), Slovakia and Hungary. Finally, 2 modelers came from Czechia. Organization was also on shoulders of Austrian IGU club members, lead by Hans Hoffman. Several of members friends, girlfreinds and family members also supported the event. First day was affected by continuous rain, which was pooring down all the day long. It caused a lot of troubles to modelers, who had to take their models into changing barracks everytime they wanted to take them apart, to protect the sensitive electronic parts. The barracks became their temporary technical bases. The weather get much better next day and although the sky stayed gray, there was no rain and the atmospere and mood in the comunity of modelers improved a lot. "Submariners" were riding their submarines in the swimming pool whole day. In addition to the rides in swimming pool, Sub-Regatta was filled with many ..... Again, competitors were guiding a mini-submarine through a mine field and between the shikanes in a small aquarium. The aim was to get to the finish in the shortest possible time. This year only IGU-members took part in this competition. Other game was aimed to children and their task was to control a small boat in the swimming pool. Every model was punctualy surveyed by a committee of IGU senior members, and they took notes about it's impression, details, interesting solutions, etc. This information were finally used to award best models. |
